Oscar becomes entangled in the strange obsessions of Iris’s brilliant but emotionally troubled brother, Eden, who believes he can heal people with his music—and who will stop at nothing to prove himself right. Oscar and Iris devise a plan to determine just how dangerous Eden really is, but it might already be too late to keep him from his next treacherous move.
Benjamin Wood’s debut novel is already a success in the UK, where the Independent said, “readers will find themselves transfixed by this richly drawn cast of characters.” Noting comparisons to Brideshead Revisited, the reviewer comments, “The fact that Wood can hold his own in such heavyweight company is a measure of his achievement.” Wood was also selected as one of six “New authors to Watch” by The Observer (along with The Art of Fielding’s Chad Harbach”).
